Well James is *finally* all moved in upstairs. I've helped him redecorate and paint the entire place, and he absolutely loves it. He even took me out to dinner the other night as thanks! His first day at Basic Black is this coming Monday, and he's really excited. He'll have to meet with Sami so that she can show him the ropes, but we've already made plans to go to lunch afterwards. I'm so excited that things are progressing so well. I never thought I'd fall for someone after all that's happened with... Well, you know. James has completely restored my faith in the whole saying "if it's meant to be..."

After dinner the other night, James and I ran into Lauren and Shawn having quite the heavy make out session in the hallway outside our lofts... It was completely awkward and, to be honest, a little shocking. Of course James hasn't met Shawn yet, and didn't realize who he was, so I quickly pulled him into the loft before Shawn or Lauren could see. I definitely wanted to avoid that crazy Lauren, and I didn't really want Shawn to meet James under these pretenses. When the time is right, I suppose we'll all sit down. After all, James is going to be a big part of Ben's life.

Wow, I have been neglecting my LJ lately! I've just been *so* busy and things have really been happening around here. Last weekend James came to visit (again!) from NYC. Since Shawn had Ben for the weekend, James and I got to spend a lot of time together. I picked him up from the airport and took him to the Brady Pub. He really enjoyed meeting everybody. We then came back to the loft and watched a movie before heading to bed. On Saturday I brought him into Basic Black and showed him my new ideas for the winter collections. He absolutely loved them, and even offered up some thoughtful improvements! We're still trying to get his position worked out with the company, but Sami's promised that it won't be much longer... On Saturday night we went to a museum benefit put on by my father, and got to see each other all dolled up. On Sunday he had to head back to NYC, but I'm going try to take a trip out there in the next few weeks, once he has some free time. He'll have to come back soon to check out apartments, and I'm going to see if the upstairs apartment will be free by then. Daddy said they're renovating and remodeling it, but hopefully it will be free!
Well, I've just had an amazing idea for a sketch, and need to draw it out before it leaves my busy brain!

This past weekend was amazing, to say the least. James flew in from NYC, and I met him at the airport. We went straight to dinner at The Blue Note, as we were both starving. Our meals were fantastic, and he even ordered a bottle of wine for the table. How romantic... He kept asking about my personal life, and it was nice opening up to someone new and interesting. He has a very sexy English accent. After dinner he suggested we spend some time at his hotel's hot tub. I stopped by the loft to pick up my suit, and we spent the evening lounging in the hot tub with champagne and chocolate-covered strawberries. I was feeling a little loopy after that, so James suggested that I stay over at the hotel. He slept on the couch in the room, and offered me the bed. It was so sweet, especially since I wasn't ready to move too fast. Before leaving the next morning, we shared a delicious room service breakfast... and a kiss. I went home, changed, and met him back at Basic Black for a meeting and tour with Sami. The three of us went to lunch and got along great! Sami thinks he's absolutely gorgeous and definitely thinks I shouldn't let this one get away. ;) I dropped him off at the airport the following morning, and he's called every day since. He's thinking of coming out again soon, and I cannot wait. I'm so excited!

I cannot believe that Hope is missing... Shawn came by the other day to see if I'd seen her at the ceremony. I hadn't, as I'm sure I wouldn't have been welcomed in the "bridal suite." Right before the ceremony was to begin, Ben became fussy and I had to go out into the lobby to calm him down, so as not to ruin the event for everyone else. Unfortunately I didn't see anything suspicious out there either. It's not at all like Hope to just run off... I just hope she's okay. I'm sure it's just a big mix up, it's got to be!
After the commotion at the church, I decided to head home and check my machine to see if maybe Hope had left a voicemail (not likely, but I figured anything was possible). She hadn't, but, to my surprise, James from New York called! He's going to be here tomorrow as a surprise! He's taken time off from work to come out and visit me, and also to see what Basic Black has to offer him. Sami's excited, of course, and I'm going to give him a private tour of the offices tomorrow. Luckily Shawn has Ben this weekend, so James and I will have plenty of time to hang out. Patrick's also out of town visiting a relative, so the loft will be quiet. I'm thinking of making my extra-special poached salmon dinner with yummy cheesecake for dinner tomorrow night. No man could ever resist my poached salmon and cheesecake! ;)
Well, I need to call my salon and make an appointment to get a mani and pedi tomorrow before James arrives!

Oh my gosh! You will not believe what just happened... It was the cutest thing ever!
I was busy making lunch for little Ben, Patrick, and myself when Shawn stopped by to drop off Ben's favorite bear. Ben had left the bear at Shawn's the other night, and couldn't sleep without his favorite toy! So Shawn came over, and Patrick was playing peek-a-boo with Ben in the living room. I was in the kitchen, mind you, watching the whole ordeal unfold. Shawn walked in with Mr. Teddy, and handed it to Patrick. Ben, being enormously excited to see Mr. Teddy, was giggling excitedly. As I was finishing up lunch, I remembered that I had a few errands to run during the day, and asked Shawn if he would like to have Ben for the afternoon. Shawn agreed, of course, and went to pick Ben up to take him over to his place. I hugged and kissed Ben goodbye, and as Ben was leaving, he looked straight at Patrick and said "Bye, Daddy!"
I stopped dead in my tracks and could not believe that Ben had said his very first words! It was absolutely adorable. Patrick's eyes widened in disbelief, and we both ran to Ben and began hugging and kissing him; we were both so amazed! Shawn, on the other hand, seemed to be growing angrier and angrier that Patrick was called "daddy." Patrick and I tried to explain that Ben's mix-up was only natural, and that we should all be excited for Ben's first word. But he was still upset and, as he was leaving with Ben again, continued to refer to himself as "daddy" in the third person.
My little baby is growing up so fast. First he's saying his first words, and the next he'll be running off to kindergarten. Where has the time gone?!
Well, it's time to go run my errands. I've found an amazing, drop-dead gorgeous dress from this little boutique in town. I plan on wearing it to the dinner "date" with Libby and Shawn.

Wow! It has been one hectic week! I got back from NYC on Sunday evening, only to head to work on Monday to find total chaos! Apparently, while I was gone, a new shipment of fabrics came in. The office is just a mess! Luckily I'm putting the fall lines to production soon, so everything will be organized eventually. The trip was a lot of fun. I got to catch up with my designer friends from college, and they loved seeing how much Ben's grown! I also got to meet this awesome new up-and-coming designer, James! He has some great ideas and I would love to have him come work for Basic Black. He'll be coming out for a visit soon, but we haven't worked out the details yet. Sami really wants me to recruit a new designer for the Basic Black male clothing line, and I truly think James would do a great job. Hopefully he'll be able to work with his schedule and fly out soon. I can't wait to show him around Salem!

Someone must've bid on Shawn in my name for Doug's charity auction. I wasn't even in town, I was just leaving NYC when the auction was finishing up. I can't believe this... And, whoever bid for me did a horrible job, as "I" tied with that Lori girl he's seeing. Great... Apparently it's expected that all the winners go on a date with their new prize, too. An assistant from Doug's place has already called to attempt to schedule the date, as a photographer will be on hand to photograph the event for publicity for Doug's restaurant. Just wonderful. Maybe I can get out of this somehow? I have to, I can't go on a date with Shawn and that Lindsay girl! I won't!

Ben and I have decided to take a trip to New York this weekend. My designer friends want to introduce me to this fabulous new, up-and-coming designer, and I'm really eager to meet him. He's trying to get picked up by a company, and Basic Black could use another talented designer in our ranks. I've already cleared everything with Sami, and she agrees that, by scouting, I'll be helping get the Basic Black name out there. Ben and I leave tomorrow night, and we'll be back sometime on Sunday. Oh great... I was out to lunch with Ben, and ran into Hope. Things were so awkward! :( I just can't believe that I made that comment about her and Bo's relationship. How stupid and inconsiderate of me... But, in my defense, I am so fed up with everyone trying to get me and Shawn back together. What else was I supposed to say that I haven't said already? Way to go, Belle... Now she'll probably start coaxing Shawn to start dating other women... And one of these women might end up being Ben's stepmom! Oh no!

Things have been going so great here! I've been getting a lot of work done, even with the cut in hours I took. Sami's not back at the office yet, thank goodness, since she's still recovering and taking it easy. Her assistant and I have been taking care of everything, though, so don't worry, Sis! It's so nice to come home to a home-cooked meal as well. Patrick's been cooking a lot lately, which I really appreciate. And, when I have extra errands to run, he's more than willing to watch Ben for a few hours! It's wonderful! He and Ben get along great, and Ben seems to be completely comfortable around him. Well, Ben has a play date with some friends from day care, so we better get going!

Thank goodness Sami's out of her coma. They're still monitoring her and keeping her in the hospital for observations and testing. I'm just so thankful that she's going to be okay now... Ben needs to have his auntie Sami around for much longer!
Patrick and I seem to be getting along wonderfully in the apartment. There have been a few nights that I've come home to find Patrick slaving over the stove, cooking up a wonderful dinner. I think he should get a job as the head chef at Chez Rouge, he's just such an amazing cook! Ben seems to enjoy the concoctions as well, especially now that he's eating solids.
Tara came to visit the other day, and she absolutely loves her little cousin. She is such a little cutie; she was pretending that Ben was her baby. It was absolutely adorable. Brady, any time you want me to babysit, let me know. Ben loves getting together with his cousin!
Well Ben and I are going to take a walk in the park with Pinky!

I'm sure by now you've all heard that my sister has slipped into a coma. I'm completely devastated... Lucas just called me out of the blue the other night, really upset, and told me I had to come to the hospital ASAP. Luckily Shawn was able to take Ben, and he's kept him most of the week since I've been at the hospital a lot. The doctors still aren't 100% sure what happened, but they think that Sami's been poisoned by the pain medication... It's not like Sami to take too much medication, and everyone agrees that something's fishy. I really hope they can figure this out, and that Sami makes it out of this okay. She's so tough; she's just got to be okay!

So, good news! Patrick has moved back into his old room at the loft. Because I've been working less due to Lexie's stress free living recommendations, I have been having difficulty affording the rent and utilities, on top of Ben's expenses. Luckily Patrick needed a place to stay again, and will be able to help me out with the finances! He moved in yesterday, and he and Ben seem to be getting along wonderfully. Pinky also enjoys having him around! Now I won't be so stressed about making rent each month, which is also a plus!
Well, Sex and the City is on and then it's off to bed!

Long time, no update. I've been trying to take things as they come and not get stressed out anymore. :) It seems to be working, too. I'm only working the maximum 40 hour work week now (as opposed to the 60 hours I was pulling before), which allows me more time to spend with Ben. Shawn has also been around, helping with Ben and whatnot. I really appreciate his help. I sort of thought it'd be awkward having him around so much, but I must say... it's been quite nice.
Well, Ben spend the day at my mom's so I suppose I should go pick him up!

I'm finally out of the hospital, with strict orders to maintain a stress-free life. Dr. Carver wants me to attend therapy, too, to discuss my exhaustion. I suppose that's a good idea... I've also decided to hire a housekeeper for the time being. Her name is Helga, and she'll be here twice a week to clean up and take care of Ben for a few hours.
Well, Ben's itching to take a walk in the park, so off we go!

Shawn has been extremely helpful this week. In fact, I don't know what I would do without him... I'm so lucky that he came along when he did. I don't even want to think what could've happened to poor Ben! While I was in the hospital, Shawn was with me every day. He even took off work to be by my side... Yesterday we went on a picnic, too. He's really been there for me and Ben. Did I make the right choice in filing for divorce? I'm so confused...

My mom brought her laptop for me to use at the hospital. It was so nice of her, and now I can catch up on work through the Basic Black database.
I don't really remember what happened to put me in the hospital, but Lexie attempted to explain to me that I've become highly anemic and I suffered from severe exhaustion. She's really worried about Ben and me, and gave me the number of a nanny/housekeeper. I think I can handle my child and household myself, though.
Shawn's been by a few times to visit, and brought Ben with him. It seems like they're having fun together. Shawn also brought me some flowers and books, too. It was very thoughtful. Often, he'll come around dinner time and bring me some food from the Pub. It's much better than this hospital slop.
A nurse just walked by and gave me the evil eye for using this thing around sensitive hospital equipment. I better hide it before it's confiscated.

This week is going to be never-ending. I've already missed Carrie's welcoming party due to the hectic work schedule that I'm under. And, to make matters worse, I didn't realize that the nursery downstairs closes promptly at 5. So I had Ben up here until 9 last night, trying to ward him off of the brightly colored swatches and attempting to finish my work for the day.
Oh no, I just noticed that the janitor completely rearranged all the colors and designs on the planning corkboard! Great... more work to do.

It looks like I'm going to have to work both Saturday and Sunday this week. The company Basic Black uses to ship our orders had a flooding issue, and over 1,000 orders were ruined. That means I'm going to have to work double-overtime just to make up the ruined orders. That's not to mention the orders that are coming in every second from around the globe...
Mom, I'm sorry but I won't be able to make it to dinner this weekend. Maybe we can reschedule for sometime next week if things slow down?
Shawn, do you mind coming to pick Ben up from the office around 5? I've got to stay until at least 11 tonight to take care of these back-orders. In fact, it would really help me out if you'd take him this weekend, since I'll be at the office. I'd rather have him spend time with you than a babysitter. Let me know if this is do-able for you.
Okay, I just got a fax for 6 more orders. I better get off this thing and back to the grind.

I'm sure you've all read Shawn's latest entry. Yes, earlier today I spent a good 4 hours in my old closet. Fun times.
And, if you missed Shawn's message to everyone: the divorce is final. It was put in the mail today, and nothing that anyone does or says can change that. The decision was mine and Shawn's to make. We are both tired of others interfering in our lives, no matter if you believe you had Ben and our best interests in mind. The decision is final. Enough is enough.
